2018 City Wide Camp-Out

In honor of National Get Outdoors Day, JCI South Saint Paul (aka the South Saint Paul Jaycees) has teamed up with the South Saint Paul Parks and Recreation Department, small business and other community organizations to offer an overnight camping experience in our very own Lorraine Park. This is their 10th year of having this event that helps children and families experience the joy of nature and learn outdoors skills. JCI South Saint Paul continues to sponsor and support this event to encourage kids to be active, give families in the middle of the city a camping experience, and to bring the community together.
There will be activities offered throughout the day and a chance for children and adults to get to know the community of South Saint Paul as well as enjoy some time outside and as a family.There will be great child friendly activities, board games, food, and, of course, a bonfire! This is a great way for families and children to experience camping as well as get to know their neighbors. The whole community comes out for this event as well as the police department and the fire department. Some of the events may include community bonfire, S’mores, popcorn, glow in the Dark Games, flashlight scavenger hunt, board games, swimming at the Splash Pool, dinner & breakfast, and so on. Come be apart of this event, get to know the community of South Saint Paul, and enjoy nature and our city parks!
Gather your camping supplies (including a tent, sleeping bags, flashlights, bug spray, and so on) and head on over to the park on Saturday, June 9th (registration open between 3:30-5:00 p.m.), and plan on staying until Sunday, June 10th (tents down by 10:00 a.m.
Register at Central Square Community Center (100 7th Ave N). Early bird pricing is $5/tent; day-of registration at the park is $10/tent.
